Ushering Experience

I went downtown to Imaginon to usher for the play The Emperor’s New Clothes. Having some theatrical background, I was very impressed by the four-person play as well as the pace and humor in the play that related to most of the audience that was there. I ushered on a Tuesday morning through two plays. The first accommodated two homeschool groups and a bus of third-graders form Fort Mill. The second held three second grade classes from a fourth-ward elementary school that walked (despite the cold!) and two homeschool groups, one of which I was a part of when I was younger.

It was a great experience ushering for the play and being able to watch it as well. With both varying ushering-type and elementary-age volunteer and work experience, it wasn’t out of place or awkward. It was also good to visit imagine again, something I did a lot when I was homeschooled. I used to see productions there and take acting classes, and also used the library for a big part of my elementary and some of my middle school years. Everyone was very nice and the two ladies there with me were very helpful and very kind when I was trying to figure out what exactly I was doing.
